A Mexican Mayor, Victor Hugo Sosa of San Pedro Huamelula village has tied the knot with a seven-year-old alligator.
In a short clip posted on the internet, the Mayor could be seen in a white dress and the reptile also appeared in a white garment believed to be a wedding gown.
The Mayor was seen dancing and kissing the reptile before a thousand people who came to celebrate with the Mayor.
According to a report, the reptile is believed to be a deity representing Mother Earth and her marriage to the Mayor symbolises the joining of humans with the divine.
The ceremony which took place in San Pedro Huamelula village was part of an age-old indigenous ritual to bring abundance to the village.
