A fierce fire broke out at Read 6, Woji Federal Housing Estate, Port Harcourt, reducing over five shops to ashes. An eyewitness, an apprentice in one of the shops, recounted that the fire originated from a neighbouring food vendor’s shop. The courageous woman initially tried to battle the flames on her own but was soon overpowered, prompting her to call for help.
Quickly, young men and boys gathered in numbers to combat the fire, demonstrating tremendous bravery. Fire service officials arrived at the scene a few minutes later, just as the blaze was being extinguished. However, when our correspondent attempted to inquire about the incident with the woman, she remained silent, leaving many questions unanswered.
